Spaces Designed for Connection and Exchange
The EMERGE hubs aim to strengthen connections both within the university and between Rennes 2 and its broader ecosystem. They are intended to welcome and integrate external audiences into university activities, making each hub a true meeting point and a space where ideas circulate.
The hubs are located within existing campus facilities:
- The “L’éBUllition” third place, on the 1st floor of the main University Library at Villejean;
- The Languages Library (BU Espace des langues), Building L, at Villejean;
- The Ty-Maz’ third place at Mazier.
Vincent Gouëset, President, Université Rennes 2:
“I am delighted to see this new stage of the project come to fruition on our campuses in Rennes and Saint-Brieuc. These hubs embody our university’s ambition to promote openness to the world and to Europe. I would like to thank all staff and students who contributed to this inauguration on our Villejean and Mazier campuses.”
Anne Goarzin, EMERGE Vice-President, Université Rennes 2:
“Where some see non-places, to borrow the words of Marc Oger, we want to imagine our hubs as yes-places: spaces of resonance, open to others, where people truly meet. Entering university is that moment when a new relationship with the world takes shape: it is where meaning is sought, connections are formed, and we discover ourselves through others. Our hubs are conceived as spaces of affirmation—places where we absorb, where we open ourselves to the unexpected, where curiosity and encounter become driving forces. With the EMERGE Alliance, we choose a lived, shared, and embodied Europe. We choose to say yes.”
A Shared European Ambition
With the inauguration of these EMERGE hubs, Université Rennes 2 reaffirms its commitment to an innovative and collaborative European dynamic. Open to all, these spaces are designed to become vibrant environments where ideas, projects, cultures, and perspectives intersect.
By bringing institutions together around shared values, the EMERGE Alliance provides a stimulating framework for imagining the European university of tomorrow. The new hubs will play a central role in advancing this ambition.
